ABOUT LOCAL
FARMERS & PRODUCERS

Worldwide the self-sustainability of countries and mainly small island is a topic of discussion. The dry climate and very little rainfall have been big challenges for Aruba’s local farmers.

BEVERAGE PRODUCERS

Aruba has several local beverage producers with Balashi as local brewery leading the way. Over the years Balashi has increased their portfolio of beers and recently added the popular Magic Mango beer. Aruba Trading has a line of locally bottled rum called Weststreet, named after the location of the production location, and Goshen uses his own farmed fruits and vegetables for tasteful cocktails and smoothies.

FISHERMEN

The deep-sea fishing Aruba has on its doorstep features some of the world's most iconic big game species, including Marlin, Sailfish, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Barracuda, and several kinds of Tuna. Trophy sized Billfish and Great White Sharks pay these waters a visit from time to time, as well.

The restaurants of Aruba Wine and Dine have a long history with the local fishermen. Hadicurari and Nos Clubhuis are the home of the Hadicurari fisherman and they have been supplying all the restaurants of the hospitality group with the freshest fish for many years already.

FARMERS

Over the last few years, we have seen farms popping up in the less populated areas of the island. Sometimes operated by enthusiastic amateur farmers and often by professional cultivators who carry international knowledge and experience. Agriculture is a fast-growing industry in Aruba, perfectly aligned with the international trends. Restaurant guests have shown an increased interest in home-grown (organic) products, making the ‘Farm-To-Plate’ concept even more appealing to the local chefs.
